Global Hedge Fund - Analyst

Rhodes Associates has been retained by a global hedge fund to identify and recruit an Analyst who will work on the Real Estate Team. The successful candidate will take on a high level of responsibility and will be charged primarily with business due diligence, financial analysis, and underwriting on global investments, across the capital structure, from bridge/mezzanine financing to JV equity. The Analyst will be involved in aspects of a deal from acquisitions through asset management and dispositions. Transactions are comprised of individual properties, portfolios and operating companies (both private and public). This position is based in New York City.

Our client currently manages over $13 billion in assets, allocated across a variety of asset classes, including publicly traded equity and debt securities, private equity and real estate. The fund has offices in the United States, Europe and Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Perform the initial screening of investment proposals to determine fit with the client.
* Perform and coordinate full transaction due diligence, including cash-flow analysis, site inspections, and lease abstractions.
* Oversee and monitor current and future investments as required.
* Assist the Real Estate Team in maintaining JV relationships.
* Draft investment memorandum.
* Analyze transactions to ensure investment criteria fit.
* Provide analytical support to senior management.
* Prepare investment summaries and present potential investments to the real estate group.
* Continually enhance micro market and product type expertise.
* Structure and price new investment opportunities, including the negotiation of terms and risk control devices.
* Assist in identifying, structuring, negotiating and closing a diverse group of real estate investments; screen investment proposals to determine fit within the client's investment objectives.
* Participate in financing activities as required.
* Focus on non-traditional asset classes.
* Interface with other investment teams (outside of real estate).
* Some domestic or international travel required.

QUALIFICATIONS

* 2-3 years [pre-MBA] relevant experience as an Analyst focused on principal real estate investments.
* Excellent financial modeling, writing and presentation skills; effective negotiation skills.
* Skilled in real estate underwriting and financial analysis.
* Strong understanding of highly-structured debt products and excellent credit skills.
* Ability to think as a principal; real estate investment experience is preferred.
* Property valuation experience.
* Excellent financial modeling, writing and presentation skills; effective negotiation skills.
* Able to make effective decisions in response to changes in the market.
* Sophisticated financial acumen.
* Ability to understand the investment risks and the methods to mitigate the risks in structuring investments.
* Excellent due diligence, analytical, negotiating, transaction structuring and financial skills.
* Experience with multiple investment vehicles, including single asset, portfolio, entity and mezzanine.
* Exceptional quantitative and qualitative skills.
* Superior oral and written communication skills; strong presentation and process management skills.
* Ability to multi-task.
* Ability to work both within a team and independently with minimal guidance.
* Organized; good and independent work ethic; good administrative and management skills; attention to detail.
* Dedication to quality, creativity and perseverance.
* Solicits senior level guidance or input on key matters.
* High level of energy and motivation.
* Proficient in Excel and Argus.
* BS/BA in Real Estate, Business, Finance or related field from top-tier US institution.
